Welcome to New College

Your visit to New College provides a unique opportunity to explore one of the most beautiful and historically significant colleges in Oxford. Founded in 1379, it was among the first to be built around a quadrangle, a design that later inspired college architecture across the University and beyond.

As you walk through our medieval cloisters, chapel and gardens, you will find yourself surrounded by centuries of history. Our Dining Hall has been in daily use since the fourteenth century, and our gardens are home to Oxford’s ancient city wall, dating from the thirteenth century. The College has also appeared in several films, including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, which makes it a favourite stop for visitors of all ages.

To make the most of your visit, we recommend using our free audio guide. It is full of fascinating stories from students, Fellows and historians, helping you explore New College at your own pace.

Free admission applies throughout the year to:
· Children under 7 years old
· Permanent residents of Oxford City up to OX4 (proof of address required)
· New College Old Members and their families
· Prospective students and their families
· Bodleian card holders and Oxford alumni, together with up to two guests (please show your card on arrival)
